Marissa's goal is to change the way people think about learning and see math in a new light. A licensed North Carolina teacher and math tutor serving Charlotte and the surrounding areas, she started her career in education in 2000. Over the years, she has taught a variety of ages, grades, and subjects of math. When she first started, she was a TA for college math professors at the University of South Florida in Tampa. Upon leaving college, Marissa taught at both the high school and middle school levels across several different schools. Holding an active teaching license in the state of NC, she has earned many degrees including a Master's in math and a Master of Education degree in Training and Development. Marissa was active in working with the school district as a trainer in various technology programs and with the state's Department of Public Instruction to create some of the new curriculum that NC was switching over to. Voted as teacher of the year in 2022 for the state, Marissa's dedication to her students shines through their new-found confidence in a subject they previously disliked. Today, Marissa offers one-on-one math tutoring online and in person, homeschool math teaching, and test prep for the SAT, ACT, GED, and ASVAB, working with students from Pre-Algebra and Algebra through Calculus and IB math. Her students proudly remember her as that crazy math teacher who made them yell, "I love me sum math!" And… eventually that sentence became true for them.

Marissa is a mother of 2 beautiful daughters and the best dog on the planet. When she is not doing math or teaching, she might be building a website or reading a Human Design chart for someone with her other business, BrightBloom Tech. She also likes spending time with her daughters, reading, doing arts and crafts, and getting outside to enjoy nature.
